Arrival/Departure Information:
Covid 19 statement for guests.
If you or anyone you have been in contact with has recently had, or is showing symptoms of Covid 19 we ask that you do not come at this time, instead please contact us. This also applies if you are living in a tier three area of the UK at this time. If you are in a tier two area you should not trade or stay overnight with someone from outside of your normal household.
If you become ill or show symptoms of Covid 19 whilst you are staying with us we ask that you inform us immediately and return home straight away.
Please note during this time we are also asking for guests to air the property on departure by opening up all windows as long as the weather allows. We are also asking guests to bag up their linen and towels on departure in Linen bag which will be provided.
We have also removed some non essential items from our properties including kitchen condiments, books, games and cushions from sofas and beds. This is to aid the cleaners in making sure the property is clean and sanitised to as a high a standard as possible.
As part of our extra cleaning; handles, light switches and high touch surfaces will have extra cleaning and be disinfected before any new guests arrive. We will also put all crockery and cutlery in the dish washer on a hot wash.
Bed linen and towels will be washed on a hot wash with added Napisan to give an extra level of cleaning. We will also follow any new government regulations on cleaning as and when they update us.

The property will be available for entry from 5pm on the day you arrive. Please do not arrive earlier than this unless by arrangement. If you do need to drop off luggage this can normally be arranged by contacting us in advance.
On arrival you can let yourself in after 5pm as the keys will be left in the door after this time.
Checkout time is 9am on your day of departure im sorry this is quite early but this is due to the new cleaning guidelines. Please can you leave the property as found, Open windows to air the property if the weather allows, dishwashers should be empty, bins should be placed in the designated areas and living areas and bathrooms should have had a wipe down and be vacuumed, clean and tidy. We also ask that bed linen and towels are bagged up in the spare linen bags provided. We do not expect the houses to be sparkling as cleaners will be in on the changeover day, please use your common sense as an additional cleaning charge will be taken from the security deposit or requested if the property is left in an unsatisfactory condition.
Directions from Exeter:
The post code for SAT NAV is PL293ST this will bring up two addresses “Trewint” should be used for Stable, Courtyard and Trewint Farmhouse and Mouls island barn.
“Scarrabine” should be used for Scarrabine Farmhouse.
From Exeter turn off the motorway at J31 and onto the A30.
Follow the A30 until just past Launceston.
Turn off the A30 at the “Kennards house” junction, signposted North Cornwall. (This is quicker than going all the way to Bodmin on the A30.)
Turn right just before Camelford at the “Slaughter bridge” junction. After 2 miles this should then bring you to a cross roads, go straight across and follow the signs for Delabole, Port Isaac B3314.
Stay on the B3314 for around 20/25 minutes or until you reach a small hamlet called St Endellion.
Turn right just past the Trevathan strawberry farm and before the Church.
Follow this small road until you reach the Long Cross Hotel, which is on a sharp left hand corner with a staggered junction.
Take the second right down this road and if it’s daylight you should see the sea and the island out in Port Quin bay!
Trewint cottages are the first left down this road and Scarrabine is the second left about 100 metres after the Trewint car park turning.
Finding your property:
Mouls Island, Courtyard cottage, Stable cottage and Trewint farmhouse are all in quite close proximity around the old farm yard at Trewint.
Scarrabine Farmhouse is 100 meters further down the road up on the hill.
All parking for Trewint, Stable and Courtyard cottage, and Mouls Island is in the main gravel car park on the lower side of the properties towards the sea. There is a large grassed area with benches and some swings which is a communal area surrounding the car park.
Please park facing the fence so that everyone can park in a line from left to right along the length of the car park with the sea on your right hand side.
Mouls Island barn is immediately on your left as you drive into the main car park; it is surrounded by the Slate walled yard.

John Williams or his partner Zoe, live in the Northern wing of Trewint Farmhouse either knock on the blue and white door or call 01208 880200.
You will see most of the family milling about, either on the way to and from the farm (John and Mark Williams), or out and about with kayaks (Sam Williams). Feel free to say hi and ask if you are in need of any local knowledge or just fancy a chat. You are quite likely to meet a flock of our sheep or a herd of cattle being moved to new pastures up or down the road to Port Quin. Guests are always more than welcome to lend a hand with this activity if you want (it makes a good photo opportunity).
Local shops etc:
Trevathan farm shop is a our closest shop, good range of products but more expensive than Co Op etc.
Port Isaac is 10 mins drive on the main road to the north has a well stocked Co Op. Try to use the main road via St Endellion and avoid driving the direct route along the narrow lanes as it can become very tricky when you meet another car at the bottom of the old village in Port Isaac.
Polzeath is also around 10 minutes drive to the south and has a good “Spar” with lots of choice but a bit pricey.
Wadebridge (15-20 mins drive) is great for wandering around, with a good butchers and other shops as well as a big Co Op, Lidl and a large Tesco store up on the hill above the Town.
Bodmin (30 mins drive) has lots of supermarkets with an Asda, Morrisons, Sainsburys and Lidl
Nearest Bar and Restaurant:
The Long Cross Hotel (10 mins walk up the road) has great panoramic sea views from the large decked area and very good food and drink.
Foodie advice:
Trevathan farm shop and restaurant are a short drive up the road at St Endellion (approx 2 miles)
The Hive food hub is over at the Porteath Bee centre, this is a cafe and food takeaway spot.
There is a good fish restaurant called Nathan Outlaws fish kitchen in Port Isaac, if you wanted something a bit special and close by. Otherwise Padstow has some great options for fish at “Steins” or Meat at “No6 Paul Ainsworth”
The “St Kew inn” is a good pub grub alternative in a really nice setting, which is really good too and only 10 minutes by car or taxi. The closest place to eat and also pretty good is the Longcross hotel, no taxi required and just a short walk up the road.
Taxis
Taxis can be tricky to get hold of in Cornwall, its best to have a few in mind and try and book in advance. The best local service by miles is “the Port Isaac shuttle service” Mark and louise are both lovely people. They have a facebook page and the number is:

They know us well so if you say you are staying at Scarrabine or Trewint cottages they will know where they are going!

You will need a bit of cash for the local taxis as they don’t have card machines.
The best footpaths:
Just up the hill past Trewint farmhouse and cottages towards the Long cross hotel there is a style/hedge crossing on your left which is the quickest route to Port Isaac across the fields (around 30 mins).
The route then takes you across three more styles then a small stream beside the hamlet of lower Trefreoke. Once at the hamlet you follow the road up slightly then down the steep “church hill” to Port Isaac.
You can take a loop by coming back around the coast path to Port Quin (although note the coastal path is a much longer route).
For more strenuous walks head down the road to Port Quin (10/15 mins walk) then either head North to Port Isaac (2/4hrs walk), or walk South to Polzeath (2/4 hrs) Both are stunning walks but are quite strenuous with lots of rise and fall.
There are shorter options especially heading to Lundy bay to the south of Port Quin where you will find a low tide beach that is well worth an explore!
